The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is designed to assess the English proficiency of non-native speakers. The assessment follows the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) and tests candidates in four key modules: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.

IELTS Test Structure

Understanding the structure of IELTS is key to success. Every candidate must complete four modules: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.

✔️ Listening (40 minutes)

• 4 sections, 40 questions (1 mark each)
• Scoring: 0–9 bands

✔️ Reading (60 minutes)

• 3 passages, 40 questions
• Scoring: 0–9 bands

✔️ Writing (60 minutes)

• 2 tasks (Task 1 & Task 2)
• Scoring: 0–9 bands

✔️ Speaking (11–14 minutes)

• One-to-one interaction with an examiner
• Scoring: 0–9 bands

⏱️ Total Test Duration: 2 hours 44 minutes

All Reading, Listening, and Writing modules are completed in one day. The Speaking module may be scheduled within 7 days before or after the other tests, depending on the test centre.
